Introducing our New Chair of Trustees
08/08/2025
We are truly delighted to announce Prof. Anna Meredith OBE as our new Chair of Trustees. In her words:
‘It’s a privilege to take up this new role as Chair of WVI. As a wildlife vet myself who’s been directly involved on the ground delivering veterinary support to many conservation projects, WVI’s mission and vision are very close to my heart.
I’d like to thank Miranda for so ably leading the charity since 2018 through a period of significant change and challenge and ensuring that we’re fit for the future. We have taken on a new generation of veterinary partners, and through our bursaries we are actively training up the next generation of wildlife vets and scientists to work on the conservation frontline and save species.
Recently our executive team has been invigorated by the arrival of Liam to help promote and drive forward our work and reach new audiences and donors. It’s heartening to see increasing recognition of the importance of the role of conservation medicine in the wider context of contributing to the One Health agenda, which recognises the crucial interconnectedness of animal, human and environmental health.
As Chair, I’m committed to work with our amazing team to continue to expand our reach, grow both our reputation and our impact, and support our inspiring vets and nurses in making a real difference to the conservation of threatened species.”
Prof. Meredith is currently Executive Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Keele University, and is an expert in Zoological and Conservation Medicine. She is uniquely qualified to lead WVI into its third decade and ensure that we are doing everything we can to protect the health of threatened wildlife.
We also want to say a huge THANK YOU to our out-going Chair of Trustees, Dr. Miranda Stevenson OBE, who has led WVI since 2018 – steering the charity through the challenges of the Covid19 pandemic, the death of our founder, Dr. John Lewis, and the UK cost of living crisis, and helping strengthen its reputation as a globally respected source of conservation medicine expertise. We are incredibly grateful for all Miranda has done to keep us on track and raise the profile of wildlife health as an integral part of conservation.
