WVI Wildlife Health Bursaries - 2026 Winners
12/10/2026
Since we introduced our bursaries for wildlife vets working in low resource, highly biodiverse settings three years ago, we’ve had over 90 applications, from people working in over 40 countries. That is surely an indication of the great need for accessible, specialist training in wildlife health. Our selection panel had a very tough job this year, whittling down a large number of excellent and deserving entries. But we are delighted to say we have six incredible winners, whom we are really excited to get to know better as we support their professional development. They are:
Dr. Karen Barretto, who specialises in avian populationhealth and management in Brazil;
Dr. Kelvin Mbai Francis, who works with sea turtles in Kenya;
Dr. Isabel Hagnauer, who works at a wildlife rescue centrein Costa Rica;
Dr. Tran Van Huy Hoang, who works with primates in Vietnam;
Dr. Ashley Marshall, who works with cheetahs in Somaliland;
Dr. Debora Andrade Quintino, who works with giant anteaters in Brazil.
