Building Nature into your Business: Partnering with WVI
15/05/2025
Partnering with Wildlife Vets International: Make biodiversity part of your brand’s business plan.
With biodiversity loss accelerating and the climate crisis deepening, it’s no surprise that many businesses, and their customers, are looking for ways to take real action on sustainability. But with so many competing priorities, it can be hard to know where to start.
That’s where Wildlife Vets International comes in. By partnering with us, a specialist charity working on the frontlines of conservation medicine, your business can help to protect some of the world’s most threatened species, all while strengthening your brand and building lasting connections with your team and customers.
In an economy where values, transparency and purpose are priorities, a partnership with WVI offers a distinctive way to stand out and make a real, lasting impact.
Real stories. Real impact.
For over 20 years, Wildlife Vets International has been delivering vital veterinary support to conservation projects across the globe, from tropical islands to UK woodlands. Our work has contributed to:
- The recovery of the Mauritius parakeet, once one of the rarest birds on Earth
- The reintroduction of the Amur leopard, the world’s most endangered big cat, into protected habitat in the Russian Far East.
- The treatment and rehabilitation of Mediterranean sea turtles injured by fishing gear
- The return of pine martens to parts of the UK, supporting broader biodiversity and helping native red squirrels thrive.
Behind every success are teams of dedicated vets and conservationists, who are often working in regions rich in biodiversity but with limited access to specialist training. WVI exists to support those teams, building local veterinary skills and capacity, while embedding wildlife health into long-term conservation planning.
Why wildlife health is connected to climate, biodiversity and business
While conservation efforts have traditionally focused on habitat loss and poaching, disease and injury remain major, and often overlooked, threats to species survival. In small or fragmented populations, even minor infections or untreated wounds can tip the balance toward extinction.
Wildlife health is a critical, yet underfunded, pillar of biodiversity protection. Healthy animal populations are the foundation of ecosystem resilience, climate regulation and global food, water and health systems. And in a time of increasing zoonotic risk, the connection between animal, human and planetary health has never been more important.
By supporting WVI, your organisation becomes part of the solution. You’ll be helping to safeguard biodiversity while aligning with wider environmental, social and governance goals - delivering genuine value towards your ESG commitments.
WVI’s work supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with a particular impact across:
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being: Through our training and interventions to help prevent the spread of disease between animals and potentially to humans, as part of the wider One Health picture;
- SDG 14: Life Below Water: By protecting vulnerable marine species such as sea turtles;
- SDG 15: Life on Land: Through efforts to prevent species extinction and restore ecosystems.
And there’s no time to waste...
In the lifetime of anyone over the age of 50, global wildlife populations have declined by an estimated 69%. Partnering with WVI is a powerful way to demonstrate that your business not only understands the stakes but, most importantly, is taking action.
Our partnerships
We view partnership as a two-way exchange, built on impact, transparency and shared purpose. As a WVI supporter, your organisation will receive:
- Regular updates from the field, including virtual briefings with our veterinary partners and project teams;
- An annual behind the scenes experience with one of our UK zoological partners, exploring the conservation and veterinary interface;
- Social media and communications support showcasing your role in protecting wildlife;
- Potential site visits to partner projects for key supporters (subject to availability and suitability).
This is a partnership and collaboration. Together, we can tell a story that your teams, customers and investors can relate to.
Engage your team. Inspire your customers.
Connecting your business to wildlife conservation brings internal and external benefits. For employees, it creates a sense of pride and purpose, strengthening culture and encouraging long-term engagement. For your customers and stakeholders, it signals integrity, empathy and a proactive stance on two of the defining challenges of our time – biodiversity loss and climate change.
It’s a story people want to be part of, and with your support, we can reach further, train more vets, and protect more of the species we all depend on.
About Wildlife Vets International
Founded twenty years ago, WVI provides veterinary expertise and training to conservation projects working with threatened species around the world. We focus on regions of high biodiversity but limited access to specialist training. We do this through supporting local teams and embedding animal health into wider conservation strategies.
While threats like habitat loss and poaching are widely known, health risks (whether from disease, injury or environmental stress) are too often underestimated. Our work ensures wildlife health is treated as a conservation priority, not an afterthought.
We believe conservation medicine is key to reversing biodiversity decline and safeguarding ecosystems for the future - for animals, people and the planet.
